The Cable Beach Hat was a great success again this year, with 4 teams (26 players) competing over 2 days. Players were mostly locals this year, with a few from Perth, Derby, Melbourne, and an international or two!
This year the tournament was a Surf and Turf, with day 1 held on Male Oval in China Town, the heart of Broome and day 2 on the iconic Cable Beach. Day 1 (21st June) had players running hard on the grass, day 2 (22nd June) had the extra impact of the sand. We saw more blisters and sore feet, but players were still running hard with some excellent play in the lovely conditions.
The winner was the ‘Purple People Eaters’, they also took out the spirit prize!
Male MVP: Tom Holyoake (team Gumby’s)
Female MVP: Jemma Arman (team Least Hideous)

We are looking forward to a bigger and better event next year!
What is a Hat Tournament? A Hat means that an individual player can register to play and they will be put into a team. Teams are literally pulled out of a hat. This allows players from a range of levels and areas to play together.
